The time has come for a final analysis of human history. This analysis must be conducted immediately so as to forestall the onslaught for which our present global circumstances so clearly serve as predictors. The situation is dire. The hour is late. The levers of global power must be re-tasked overnight if we are to survive as a species.
POSTULATE 001 :
Essential to collective, human behavior is the tendency to instinctively arrange ourselves in competing hierarchies. Whether we are talking about high school cliques, prison gangs, or - God help us - sovereign nations, this observation is quintessential to the question of the human condition, both historically and most especially in the instant geopolitical scenario. The rise from pre-historic tribes to militarized city-states to modern nuclear nation-states is informed and directed by this behavior.
POSTULATE 002 :
We arrive at our modern impasse : The march of the technology of modern warfare drives the lethality of modern weapons to the point of no return. We face extinction-level consequences for the race as a whole from an unholy host of weapons systems, the majority of which remain the morbid secrets of our present power elite. The human race will soon destroy itself in the course of all-out global warfare unless it can willfully and effectively break with its own embedded nature and establish a global system of government.
POSTULATE 003 :
The leaders of the modern powers have been playing fast and loose with the future survival of the entire world while failing to develop a palpable solution to the problem of our mutually assured destruction. The so-called United Nations are anything but. It must always be remembered that no nation ever loved another. The members of the U.N. refuse to surrender any real and meaningful power to the body of the council. And despite some inroads and rare political solutions to some regional crisis scenarios, the criminal collaborations and political compromises that are the necessary mainspring of our present, suicidal, international geopolitical structure can only tip us into the breach.
POSTULATE 004 :
Should a global regime miraculously be established, the pathology of power will inevitably lead that agency to devolve steadily - perhaps quickly, perhaps slowly - to an inhuman police state peopled by a small and all-powerful elite which functions to completely enslave a majority, proletarian population. At the very moment that all tribes become one tribe, that one tribe will split back into two : the prison guards and the prisoners. (At which time, of course, the prison population will further sub-divide into competing hierarchies analogous of modern prison gangs.)
CONCLUSION :
The world may soon end with a bang.
The most, the very most, we can hope for
is that it will end later....with a whimper.
A whimper that will barely reverberate in the hollow cement space of a cell marked with piss, blood and broken teeth.
